About Us

December 2014
During the Christmas season, we received tidings of great joy. On Thursday 18th December the Minister for Education and Skills, Jan O’Sullivan, announced that our new school had been granted approval to proceed to tender and construction with immediate effect. After a twelve year application and planning process this announcement was warmly welcomed by all in our school community.
The project is currently listed on (ref 91130) and this tendering process is expected to be complete in April. All going well we look forward to seeing construction begin onsite before the Summer holidays.

September 2015
On Wednesday 23rd September Fr. Michael Hickey, Mary Conneely and Anne Phillips travelled to Dundalk for a meeting with the full design team and the builders (MEIC Ltd).
Following this meeting contracts were signed - more than eleven years after Anne Phillips had first written to the Department of Education seeking an extension for the school.

Wednesday 30th September was a very special day for Scoil Naomh Buithe. This was the day when builders, pupils, teachers and parents were all well blessed by Fr. Michael Hickey (Chairperson of the Board of Management) after he officially turned the sod on the site of our new school. All pupils attended the blessing, most dressed in helmets and high-vis jackets. They even brought their spades along to the occasion and helped to move some soil into a wheelbarrow. A great day that will be long remembered!
