Letter from June 2016

Dear Parents
As the school year comes to a close, I just want to say thank you to all the boys and girls for all their hard work during the year. We have lived, loved, laughed, played, studied, learned, and enriched our lives together this year.  We can look forward to next year happy in the knowledge that we are well prepared for new teaching and learning experiences.
We wish Rang a 6 well as they set off on their secondary school adventure and we look forward to meeting our new Junior Infants in September.
Thank you to school staff who have put great effort into giving the children a positive all round learning experience.
Thank you to the members of the Board of Management who give their time generously to the school.
You, the parents and families of the children, have been very supportive of us and we appreciate it.        A special thank you to the Parents Council committee for their work throughout the year.
It was heartening to have the hard work and effort put in by everybody recognised by the Department of Education and Skills in November when Scoil Naomh Buithe received such a great report from the visiting Inspectors.
Mr Brian Berrill has been appointed to replace Ms Aine Byrne who is moving to a permanent position in another school. We wish Ms Byrne every success in the future and we welcome Mr Berrill to Scoil Naomh Buithe.
Class teachers have been assigned for next year as follows:
Junior Infants: Ms S. Byrne.
Senior Infants: Ms Barron.
Rang a 1: Ms Lynch
Rang a 2: Ms Lee
Rang a 3: Ms Carroll
Rang a 4: Ms Gorman
Rang a 5: Mr Berrill
Rang a 6: Mr Woods
Ms Phillips, Ms Woods and Ms McGrath will continue in Learning Support and we thank Ms Laura Finegan for her work on part-time hours since November. We may have some extra part-time hours for the coming year but not until after November.
Our excellent SNAs Catherine, Kathleen, Monica and Siobhan will continue with us as will Dorothy our secretary.
After much thought, discussion and consultation with parents the school opening time from August 30th 2016 will be 8.50am. Children may line up in the yard from 8.40am but no earlier please as they cannot be supervised before this time.
School closing time for Infants will be 1.30pm and 2.30pm for Rang 1—6. Small break time will be 10.50am to 11.00am and 12.15 to 12.45 for lunch.
Please continue to work with your children over the  summer: read to them or encourage them to read, have them help you with the shopping and check the till receipts, help them to make choices and order when you are on holidays or out to eat, encourage good social skills with eye contact and slow and clear speech. Everyday experiences offer so many learning opportunities and you are your child’s first and consistent teacher.
You have already received a copy of next year’s calendar. (Note: School reopens on Tuesday August 30th 2016.) Your child also has received a copy of their stationary list for next year, with the exception of Junior and Senior Infants who got a note explaining same.
We expect to be back in this building for “some” time in September but we will update you by text-a parent should the need arise.
Until then, enjoy a restful, replenishing and safe summer with your families!

Summer 2015

Dear Parents
As the school year comes to a close, I just want to say thank you to all the boys and girls for all their hard work during the year. We have lived, loved, laughed, played, studied, learned, and enriched our lives together this year.  We can look forward to next year, happy in the knowledge that we are well prepared for new teaching and learning experiences.
A special thank you to the Parents Council committee who have organised some great events throughout the year.
We will have a number of changes of staff next year and, as the appointment process is ongoing, we are not in a position to allocate all class teachers until matters have been finalised. However we can say that Ms S. Byrne will teach Junior Infants and Ms Barron will teach Senior Infants for the school year 2015/16. Ms Phillips and Ms Woods will continue in Learning Support and will be joined by Ms McGrath.
Our excellent SNAs Catherine, Kathleen, Gráinne and Monica will continue with us as will Dorothy our secretary.
We wish all those who will not be with us for the coming school year every success and enjoyment as they set out on new adventures.
We are hopeful that the building of our new school will start during the summer.              Next year’s calendar has been printed overleaf (Note: School reopens on Monday August 31st 2015.) and your child also has a copy of their stationery list for next year, with the exception of Junior and Senior infants who have a note explaining same.
Until then, enjoy a restful, replenishing and safe summer with your families!

                 8.15pm  - 1 st & 2 nd Class
Idea being that parents and children of Junior and Senior Infants (who do not have children in the 1 st & 2 nd class concert) will leave the church after the 7pm concert in order to make room for the 8.15pm concert.
It will be very important that the parents and children of 1 st & 2 nd class do not arrive at the church until 7.50pm.
We feel this arrangement is necessary owing to the increased number of children in the school and the fact that the children are very well supported by their families which we appreciate.
Wednesday 17 th December – Christmas show for 3 rd, 4 th, 5 th & 6 th will commence at 8.00pm.

Re: School Building
– Stage 2b has been submitted to the DES for approval.  They have requested a small number of minor changes mostly to do with Mechanical & Electrical Engineering.  When Stage 2b is approved it means that we are what they call "shovel ready" and therefore awaiting the go ahead for funding to build.

                                                                                           Tenure
                                                                                     17th October 2014

Dear Parents,

We will have a Board Game Playing Day on Friday 24th October.  We do this to highlight the importance of playing board games with children.
We would like each child/family to contribute €2.00 each which will go towards games/resources for the classrooms.

Please encourage your child to bring a suitable board game to school on that day and participate in this activity. If they don’t have a board game, don’t worry, there will be plenty available in school on the day.

Go raibh maith agat.
